Nike Air Max: 30 years of unparalleled style
The Air Max family was founded in 1987, when the very talented Tinker Hatfield unveiled to the world one of the swoosh brand's most iconic silhouettes: the Air Max 1. Since then, all the models in this great line have in turn marked a real revolution in the world of the sneaker: Air Max 90, Air Max 95, Air Max 97... and more recently, the Air Max 270 with its XXL air bubble. The 2019 season gave rise to a new silhouette: the Air Max 720, or living proof that Nike will never stop innovating. Designed by Dylan Raasch and Jesi Small, it benefits from the largest Air unit ever made, with a bubble almost 38 mm high. Its engineered mesh construction elevates the whole design, with a brilliant colourway and finishes.
The Air Max 98 is inspired by an iconic retro design, with modern innovations for ever greater comfort. Designed by Sergio Lozano, it features a dual-material upper and an Air unit that is visible along its entire length, just like the Air Max 97.
During Air Max Month 2018, Nike welcomed a new addition to the big Air Max family: the Air Max 270. This version quickly became a hit with sneaker addicts, thanks to its engineered mesh upper and XXL sole, equipped with the largest Air unit ever designed by Nike.
The Air Max 270 React is a perfect fit for the growing sneaker-addict craze for hybrid silhouettes. A clever mix of modern art and sportswear, it is available in different colours, mostly inspired by major design movements (Pop, Impressionism, Psychedelic, etc.). It combines an Air Max 270 unit, 27% larger than the Vapormax rear unit, and Nike react foam, so there's no compromise on comfort. It features a lightweight, seamlessly designed construction and a quick lacing system.
The Air Max 200, a new recruit to the dynasty of the same name, has an outstanding Max Air unit, offering 200% more visibility. This original silhouette features wavy lines, inspired by the rhythm of the waves and the lava flow of a volcano. Its construction combines a mesh base and suede insets. It comes in different colourways, a nod to the great moments and athletes who have marked the history of sport.
